General Product Safety Directive GPSD (2001/95/EC)

The General Product Safety Directive (2001/95/EC) aims to ensure that every consumer product on the European market is safe. It is a 'catch-all' directive to provide consumers with confidence that they will not come to harm using unsafe products.

General Product Safety Directive harmonized standards

Element’s electrical safety testing team provides services a manufacturer needs to meet the safety requirements of the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD). Unlike many product directives, the GPSD does not require the use of CE marking but uses many of the same principles, such as the option to use harmonized standards to provide a presumption of conformity to the safety requirements of the directive.
